đź’Ś The Cost of Proving Yourself

Before we begin - I owe you an honest note.
This newsletter arrived a little later than usual.
And that’s because I hesitated.
Not because I didn’t know what to say,
but because my perfectionism whispered that it had to be flawless.
Old patterns tried to take the wheel again - the ones that say, “Wait until it’s perfect before you show up.”
But the truth is, I’d rather show up real than stay hidden behind my own expectations.
When Old Beliefs Come Knocking
You’re my closest inner circle, so I want to share something deeply personal.
In less than two weeks, my corporate chapter officially ends.
For the third time in my life, I’m starting from scratch - this time, fully devoted to coaching and building Thrive in Empowerment from the ground up.
Do I feel fear? Absolutely.
Because I’m trading the safety of a monthly paycheck for the responsibility of running every part of my own business.
And somewhere inside, it stirs an old memory:
watching my dad lose his company when I was five.
One day, we had everything.
The next - it was gone.
That story has lived quietly in my nervous system ever since, whispering: What if it all disappears again?
But today, I choose a different truth.
I don’t “what if” anymore.
I know I can.
I’ve proved it - many times, in ways I couldn’t have imagined back then.
The Real Cost of Proving
Perfectionism promises safety - but it steals peace.
It convinces us that control equals confidence,
when in reality, it only deepens our disconnection.
In this week’s podcast episode of Own Your Brilliance,
I talk about how chasing perfection almost made me lose myself in the corporate world - how the constant proving left me polished, but hollow.
It took burnout, and deep inner work, to remember that I was never meant to earn love or recognition.
I was meant to embody self-trust.
A Practice for This Moment
If you’ve been procrastinating because you want something to be perfect - pause.
Place your hand on your heart and whisper:
“It’s better to begin imperfectly than to keep waiting for permission.”
Then, take one grounded breath.
Send compassion to the part of you that’s afraid to be seen unfinished.
That’s where real confidence begins.
Reflection
đź’ Journal Prompt:
“What am I postponing because I’m afraid it won’t be perfect - and what truth might unfold if I simply began?”

Perfection, power, and coming home to peace.
Closing Thoughts
If you ever catch yourself asking “What if I fail?”
ask instead: “What if I fly?”
It’s always better to arrive a little late with truth
than never arrive at all.
